Project Description
Maracay Municipal Market
Venezuela Maracay
The City’s Municipal Market was housed in a crowded, unattractive, and old facility which served as a major sales and distribution center for the region’s agricultural industry. A financial feasibility study was undertaken to demonstrate that the new market would generate sufficient revenues to pay for a new facility. A comprehensive programming, planning and design effort was undertaken with financial support from FUNDACOMUN, a non-profit government agency which supported municipal development programs. The new market became an instant success and not only generated revenues sufficient to pay it’s own way, but the relocation of the old market gave way to the redevelopment of the existing site for higher and better use.
