City Hall – Maracay, Venezuela

The City of Maracay, the capital of the State of Aragua, had its municipal administration offices located in the upper floor of a commercial building in the congested city center. Located approximately one hour from the country’s capitol – Caracas – Maracay is a gateway to the interior of Venezuela and population increases in the metropolitan area and a drive to modernize the municipality’s services and systems were important factors in taking steps to develop a new City Hall.

A comprehensive programming, planning and design effort was undertaken to develop a facility which would accommodate all functional departments and activities, as well as accommodate the public. Major improvements to city services, such as the solid waste collection system, and improvements in the property registry and urban planning program were also implemented as part of the overall effort.

Services provided:

  • Interviews with all City Administration Department heads and functionaries to obtain space and function requirements.
  • Programming and functional relationship diagramming.
  • Site evaluation and analysis.
  • Preparation of conceptual designs and collaboration with renowned principal designer, Venezuelan Arq. Fruto Vivas.
