IN SEARCH of FLYING DINOSAURS - Chaoyang, China

The trip to China, which was hosted by the Vice Mayor of Chaoyang City for Cultural Affairs and Tourism,Mr. Wei Gao, was intended to provide opportunities for the consultants to meet with scientists and researchers as well as visiting key locations in and around the City where fossils sites are being actively investigated. Chaoyung City (pop. 86,000 with a rural population of about 250,000) is a growing agricultural center easily accessible by high-quality freeways and a small airport. Government authorities, in collaboration with the Tsinghua Unversity's Architectural Design and Research Institute, have undertaken preliminary planning studies for a "Geo-Park" which could be located near one of the fossil sites. During the consultant's visit, an existing, unutilized factory was inspected, near the fossil site, which may offer potential facilities for part of the project which could be developed at relatively low cost.
